On Monday, April 15th, at 3 pm, I tutored Vatimetou. Because she was working on reducing in her class and had trouble understanding it, we decided to focus on it. We started with reducing adjective phrases. We then worked on reducing prepositional phrases, time clauses, and verbs of request. She seemed to have the most trouble with reducing time clauses, such as "when I was talking with you," versus "while talking with you." We then briefly reviewed modal verbs. She was also having trouble with 3rd person singular and the proper verb conjugations, so we went over that. We went over present and past perfect again since she was having difficulties with understanding when to use them. We also went over how and when to use “yet,” such as in “I have not done my homework yet.”
