On Monday, March 11th, at 4 pm, I tutored
Sulaiman. He was learning prepositions in class and was having some difficulty understanding
them, so I made up an activity. I used some common items, such as pencils and my
bag to show location. I gave some examples, and then had him describe the
location of the item using prepositions. Afterwards, we did a quick review of all the prepositions using an image of a room. We also worked on past participles in the
present perfect tense, such as in “has allowed.” We then went over new
vocabulary, such as “choice” and “choose,” and because he wanted to learn about
them, I briefly introduced him to contractions, such as “don’t” and “isn’t.”Because he is in lower level classes, I did not want to confuse him too much. But since he really wanted to learn contractions, I chose the more simple ones to teach him.
